Hollywood Ombre Highlights make a Nicole Jeffrey's Appearance

Have you seen this new "Ombre"
highlight trend around Hollywood?
This look was originated to recreate a California surfer look. Sun kissed hair with a beautiful natural looking bohemian wave is it's intended style. Ombre is French for shaded. Notice the top of the hair is darker with a subtle shade difference highlighted through the bottom for a very natural feel. This highlight also provides a renewed youth to your hair to restore the days spent in the sun as a child. Normally the "grown out roots look" is not a fashion forward statement. Luckily with the Ombre technique you can blend in with Hollywood's finest.
The technique behind this new highlighting is very unique and leads to beautiful results when executed correctly. Gina, our Joice Educator and Salon Manager has practiced this technique and is spreading the Hollywood statement hair around the Greater Akron area. Get beach babe hair in North East Ohio!

 Don't go overboard with contrast.
The beauty of the Ombre highlight is ruined with incorrect shading.
This should still be a highlighting technique not a defined layered coloring.

Want the bohemian curl too?
Barrel curl styling will do the trick.
Part your hair all the way down the middle to the back. Take little pieces and work your way up to the front wrapping the hair back around the outside of the curling iron. If you choose to invest in a single barrel curler (as pictured) then you will see the best results.
Key to the curl: Make sure your twist the hair into a small rope with your hands before wrapping around the iron for a looser  natural wave.

Halloween Hair Tricks and Treats From Nicole Jeffrey's

If you are the Princess Leia or a dead bride we can help you with your Halloween hair. From wig applications and styling, we want to help you win that costume contest!

Here are some great
Distinctive Halloween Hair Styles
that will raise the dead this year.

Pippi Long Stocking
(Or Wendy)
The styling trick is all about the coat hanger...that's right, a coat hanger
is hidden under all that red hair to create the corky shaping and to keep it that way.

Crazy Curlers
This is a look of all era's and can represent Marilyn Monroe's style,
call yourself a manic Monday, or be a crazy curler lady in a night gown with the morning paper...
This is not the typical way a woman would walk out of the house
so it makes for a fun costume because anything is allowed!
If you don's have curlers at home you can use toilet paper or cut paper towel rolls.

Pop Star
Katy Perry and Lady Gaga
Make it easy to mimic their crazy hair fashions with a simple spray of Pink or a Wig
For Lady Gaga don't forget the Lashes (Available at Nicole Jeffrey's)

Be A Tease
Weather you are doing 80's glam and sporting leg warmers
or you are an electrician with a shocking outcome. Teased hair is an easy costume style.

Gel is used in shorter hair to assist this look.

Glam Looks
Updo's can be as simple as a curl and as difficult as a finger wave for a 50's look.
We can help complete your Hollywood look.

Don't Let the Cool Down Hang Your Skin Out to Dry

The best tricks of the trade to keep your skin smooth all winter long without old man winter drying you out!

Moisture VS Hydration
Moisturizing: Takes care or the outer (epidermal) layer of your
skin for smoothing and easily applicable makeup.
Hydration: Reflects having healthy skin through all the layers and
maintaining hydrated skin (dermal) from the inside out.

The award for the most common misunderstood  skin care term goes to...
Exfoliate!

MISTAKE: Exfoliating methods are commonly thought of as a heavily textured products used to scratch dead skin away resulting in a smoother outer (epidermal) layer of skin.

TRUTH BE TOLD: Analysis of skin post scrub based elfoliants revealed more scratches in the dead skin layer rather than actually removing the skin.

ACCURATE: Exfoliating is most beneficial when an enzyme is used to eat away dead skin. This method is professionally recommended opposed to commercially pushed scrubs.

SPECIAL INGREDIENT: Look for either natural enzymes that exfoliate or AHA-Alpha Hydroxy Acid which is a chemical exfoliant. Either will strip the dead skin away in a non-abrasive manner. Lactic acid is another element to be aware of although it is recommended for professional use due to it's strength causing sensitivity to the sun.

*Expert Opinion*
"Exfoliating with the correct products is the key to healthy skin"

Nicole Jeffrey's offers a quality Flash Foam Cleanser by Bio-Elements that both cleanses and exfoliates. Enhanced with the natural enzymes needed to create healthy hydrated skin.
Your skin is the largest organ in your body and deserves your attention to keep it healthy and alive.
Truth About Chap Stick
Keep your lips puckering all fall & winter long?
Stop your lips from chapping and protect them throughout the entire season

Maintain:Exfoliating your lips is the key keeping them kissable. After brushing your teeth, use a separate new hard bristled tooth brush with a small dab of white tooth paste and massage on the lips as an exfoliator. Then rinse off and continue as needed. This technique removes dead skin cells and maintains smoothness.

Treatment: If chapping does occur, vitamin E is the best treatment element. Using a vitamin E capsule, puncture the capsule open and rub a small dab of the vitamin E on your lips. (Extra Benefits: can be used around the bags of eyes and a small amount on eye lids if dryness is felt in the eyes) Limit use to an as needed basis due to high concentration.

Protect: Chap stick is best used to protect lips from damage because most contain no curing agents. The vaseline consistency seals and prevents dryness to already soft lips. Applying chap stick to chapped lips only seals in and maintains chapped lips.

Making Strides In Style to a World with More Birthdays

The American Cancer Society's 2011 Campaign is "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer"
And "Making Strides to a World with More Birthdays"

Nicole Jeffrey's is Making Strides in Style
10am October 16th 2011
University of Akron Field House
(more info at the end of this post)

When diving into the statistics of this devastating disease that effects our
loved ones and friends and we too are at risk, it becomes more evident
that we have a long way to go in this fight and still no one is giving up
HOPE!

What are we fighting?
Relentless......In 2010, an estimated 207,090 new cases (1 in every 8 women) of invasive
breast cancer were expected to be diagnosed in women in the U.S.,
along with 54,010 new cases of non-invasive (in situ) breast cancer.
Unrelated......About 70-80% of breast cancers occur in women who have no
family history of breast cancer. These occur due to genetic
abnormalities that happen as a result of the aging process and life in
general, rather than inherited mutations. (Risk is doubled if a mother,
sister or daughter has been diagnosed only because the gene
mutation could be passed on by relation.)
Not Just a Girl Thing... Men too can suffer from breast cancer as estimated at 1,970
                                new cases in 2010.
HOPE for a World with More Birthday's
Survivors......In 2010 there were more than 2.5million survivor's in the U.S.
Strides..........The American Cancer Society not only dedicates it's funds to research for a
cure but it also educates and informs women of the steps to take for an
early detection for overall higher survivor rates year after year.

We have a wonderful opportunity to help make strides and walk in the
Akron 5K Walk Against Breast Cancer on
October 16th starting at 10am.

We welcome you to join us in October or make a contribution to our team goal of raising $500.  Women everywhere need your help. Every little bit counts and the Top Donor Receives a Free Making Strides Against Breast Cancer T-Shirt!

You may also make a cash or check donation at Nicole Jeffrey's Salon before October 16th to help us reach our goal. Please let the receptionist know if you would like to join us on our 5K walk  10am October 16th at the University of Akron Field House! We would love to have you with us!
