DON'T NEGLECT YOUR WINTER FEET

 Now is the time to start taking care of your feet. Ever think just because it's winter you don't need a pedicure? Well that could not be further from the truth. We are more dry in the winter months than summer months, so it's good to get a regular pedicure to keep up on those dry cracked heels. We walk an average of 8,000 steps a day which can be harmful on your feet if not properly maintained.  Here are some other health benefits to getting a regular pedicure that you must read.

EARLY DETECTION

Receiving regular pedicures can help your pedicurist detect early health problems such as corns, bunions, and fungal infections. These problems can be treated easier if detected earlier. 

DECREASES THE CHANCE OF INFECTION

Proper maintenance such as clipping, cutting, and cleaning the toe nails prevents them from growing inward and causing infection.  Have you ever had an ingrown toenail? They can be very painful. Keeping them clean by eliminating dirt and bacteria can prevent nail diseases, fungal infections, and foot odors.

PRESERVES MOISTURE

Pedicures commonly include a soak in warm water while using lotions, and scrubs which help preserve moisture in the feet. This will help by preventing blisters, cracks, and other foot problems. Also keeping your cuticles moisturized can help prevent the growth of ridges and cracks.

FOOT EXFOLIATION

Exfoliation and removal of dead skin cells prevents the accumulation of the cells that cause bunions and corns. These can be uncomfortable and painful if not treated early. Removal of dead skin, especially on the heel, encourages new cell growth which can lead to smoother more attractive feet.

PROMOTES CIRCULATION

A favorite and most enjoyable part of the pedicure is the massage. Massaging  helps promote circulation and helps relieve tension on the calves and feet. Increase of blood circulation can reduce pain and help distribute heat thoroughly through the body.

Pedicure are a basic papering service of many women of America although I never realized how beneficial it is to take care of your feet until yesterday when I received a pedicure for probably the second time in my life. Let's face it ladies, we are hard on our feet no matter what the season. We wear barely there flip flops in the summer, slip into non-supportive flats in the fall, pump our heels to knew heights on special occasions, and go barefoot on top of it all. With the cold blowing in we know dry skin and rough spots only become rougher.

Make it a Manicure Monday with Shellac

It is anything but a manic Monday 

when a Shellac Manicure is on the agenda. 

Nicole Jeffrey's is welcoming Kara to our Salon team as a Nail Technician!!!

Testing her skills we gave her the challenge of doing a french tipped  Shellac Manicure.

The process was seamless.

 A Nicole Jeffrey's manicure starts with a light filing to perfect the nails shape. 

Secondly, cuticle care is provided assuring the nail beds are clean 

and cuticles are controlled. Buffing follows if needed. 

After a certainly relaxing massage, the nail is dried in preparations of the 

base coat of Shellac.

 After curing it is time for color. 

  UV light is used for a few seconds throughout the Shellac process to accurately

 cure this gel based polish.

Time for color! 

Because the french tip the under color is normally a clear or a nude. 

"Clearly Pink" was chosen which is a tinted clear. 

 Kara used a very controlled and recommended technique of french tipping 

by using brush strokes from the nail tip line to the tip of the nail. 

This allowed for an even and natural looking application.  

 No clean up needed! 

 After more curing and a top coat to seal this wonderful french manicure.

 We could not be more proud of Kara's work and of the Shellac product line.

Trick Out Your Tips, Fall in Love with Nail Art This Autumn!

Nail art is a practice of endless possibility. If you think that "endless possibility" is an extreme statement, than prove me wrong after viewing this master piece by Cathrine Wong which is Kentucky Derby themed.

Don't get me wrong, this is a bit over the top, but now you have a better idea of just how much creativity can go into nail art. The most difficult part is thinking of a design. Luckily, you can always get inspiration from the thousands of nail artists who post their creations in this great online gallery. 

Nicole Jeffrey's might be an acrylic free salon, although do not under estimate our nail art skills. We are embracing the bedazzling nail industry with these new additions to our art department. Nail jewels and inlays! 

Nail art can be a very individual project featuring personal expression therefore
 Lisa our lovely nail technician has provided some basics on DIY nail art! 

At Home Tips: Wash hands thoroughly, pick out your favorite polish, polish as usual and dry completely. Using craft acrylic paint, experiment with stripes, polka dots, or other designs. Don't worry about messing up, a mistake is easy to fix by wiping over the nail with an alcohol soaked cotton ball. This will remove the art while keeping the polish in tact. After perfecting your design, use a top coat to seal your art. 

                 
What a great way to start, or simply get your creative juices flowing! Although you now have some easy at home tips, there are still many benefits to having your nail art done professionally!
